DESCRIPTION:Join Help of Beaufort for our annual FIRECRACKER 5K Race on the morning of July 4th in Downtown Beaufort.  Starting at 8am on Saturday\, July 4\, 2026\, on Bay & Newcastle Streets.  Run through historic downtown Beaufort and across the famous Woods Bridge following a certified 5K course. \nPacket pickup will be available at Grounded Running located at 2139 Boundary Street\, Ste 108\, Beaufort\, SC 29902 on Friday\, July 3rd\, from 10am until 4pm.  T-shirts and sizes are not guaranteed for registrations after June 1\, 2026. \nPlease note that we have added the ability to register as a Virtual Participant.  Virtual participants can receive a t-shirt for an additional $15.00 and have their shirt mailed to them. We will make a best effort to mail shirts before the event for those requesting this. \nJuly 4th -Same day entries will be accepted on race day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. ONLY. \nAge categories:  under 12\, 13-19\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60-69\, 70+\nPrizes are awarded to the overall top three males and females\, and the top two males and females in age divisions.   Awards are for in-person participants only\, and awards will begin PROMPTLY at 8:45am. \nThe event is pet and stroller-friendly.  Flexi-type leashes will not be allowed at the event.  Please have pets on a standard 4-6ft lead.

SUMMARY:Brown Bag Lunch: Revolutionary War in Beaufort County
DESCRIPTION:Revolutionary unrest in the Beaufort District began in 1772 with the Beaufort Assembly\, and the years prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence saw several other early acts of armed resistance to British presence and rule.  From that time\, over 100 ambushes\, battles\, raids\, and skirmishes were fought in the local area\, more than one-quarter of all such hostilities waged in the entire war in SC.
